Founded in 1960, National Institute of Technology, Surathkal is a public engineering university situated at Surathkal, Mangalore. Formerly known as Surathkal Regional Engineering College, it is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India and is recognized as an institute of national importance by the Government of India.
National Institute of Technology (NIT) offers various UG, PG and Ph.D. level course in more than 10 disciplines. The currently existing academic departments include Applied Mechanics and Hydraulics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management, Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Physics etc.
Candidates applying for B. Tech. program must appear for JEE (Mains).
M. Tech and Ph.D. candidates must have a valid GATE/ NET score to be eligible to apply.
Candidates applying for Ph.D. must have a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline.
B. Tech. candidates need to apply only through JEE (Mains) website.

The applicant will be required to send a duly filled-in hard copy of the same to the institute’s Assistant Registrar (Academic Affairs).
Payment of application fees can be made via demand draft drawn in favor of ‘NIT Surathkal’ payable at Surathkal.
Candidates must submit copies of all requisite documents along with the application form.
Candidates are selected to M.Tech course through a common counselling process (CCMT - 2017)
Ph.D. candidates are selected on the basis of marks obtained by the applicant in the written test followed by a PI session.
B. Tech. candidates are selected based on JEE (Mains) rank, followed by a counselling session (JoSAA) for allotment of seats according to merit.
GATE and NET score is mandatory for admission to the M. Tech. and Ph.D. courses, respectively.
